Apart from the functional requirements, the brief called for a building that was attractive, easily recognisable from the
street, approachable for patients and created a pleasant working environment for staff.
The key concept design decision was to locate all the standard height spaces in a "flat" roofed, economical box, into
which the two volumes that required higher ceilings (procedures room and waiting/reception) were inserted, thus creating
a composition of three distinct volumes, which are clad in different materials.
As the building dealt with "vision" issues, a series of screens were attached to the street facade to provide privacy,
filter light and express the buildings function architecturally.
